Brian Chambers wasn’t born with the travel bug, but he sure was infected early. With a military pilot as a father, he attended 7 different schools in the US and Europe before settling down for a few years on the east coast of Florida. Growing up boating, surfing, scuba diving and hiking, Brian’s never strayed far from the ocean or forest, though, and has been a self-professed ‘nature boy’ since his years as a Boy Scout.
Being a hands-on individual that preferred the outdoors, he qualified as a State of Florida Certified Contractor in his early 20’s and rapidly advanced through the industry and into Project Management. He would go on to successfully complete contracts such as schools, airports, hospitals, high-rises, and military bases, in locations from Central America, to Las Vegas, to Florida, and ultimately to the Virgin Islands.
For Brian, to be a conservationist on immense construction/engineering projects was worse than being a stranger in a strange land, so putting his core principles first, Brian and family (including a 6 and a 9-year old) went on hiatus and built a small home in the rainforest of Costa Rica, living between there and the USVI for over 10 years.
During that period Brian made a permanent exit from his career arc, and chose gainful employment making people smile while they’re experiencing the ocean – either in a new place, in a new way, or for the first time! It’s not just the guests that are smiling. Brian truly loves what he’s doing, and his infectious grin at work makes it obvious.
When he’s not sharing the fun and magic of the Virgin Islands with our guests, he can often be found using his USCG 100-ton Captain’s License making offshore sailboat deliveries, or teaching people how to Scuba Dive – Brian’s also a PADI Instructor with loads of info to share about our local species and snorkel spots.
